Frequently asked questions

Everything you'd typically want to know before switching bookkeeper. If we haven't answered it here, get in touch.

Getting started

How do I switch to CEM from my current bookkeeper?+

It's straightforward. We speak to your existing provider on your behalf, obtain your data and take over on the date that suits your business. There's no interruption to payroll or filings.

Do you offer a free consultation?+

Yes — every new enquiry starts with a free 30-minute call to understand your business and give you a clear, fixed quote.

Fees

How are your fees structured?+

We work on fixed monthly or fixed-fee-per-service pricing. You always know what you're paying, with no hourly-rate surprises.

Are there any set-up or exit fees?+

No. We don't charge to on-board you or to leave. Long-term relationships are built on trust, not lock-in.

Software

Which accounting software do you support?+

Xero, QuickBooks Online, FreeAgent, Sage 50 and Sage Business Cloud. We're certified on the major cloud platforms.

Do I need my own accounting software?+

Not necessarily — we can set you up on a partner licence at a preferential rate as part of onboarding.

Compliance

Are you HMRC compliant and MTD-ready?+

Yes. All submissions are filed through HMRC-recognised, MTD-compliant software. Records are kept in line with HMRC's digital record-keeping rules.

What happens if HMRC opens an enquiry?+

We handle correspondence with HMRC on your behalf and represent you throughout any enquiry or inspection.

Working together

Where are you based and do you work remotely?+

We're based in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, and work with businesses across the UK using secure cloud tools.

How quickly do you respond?+

Emails are answered within one working day, and typically within a few hours during office hours.
